Leading a diverse team of actuaries, quantitative finance professionals and software engineers, Shen was central to pioneering a dynamic daily hedging program that significantly transformed the management of investment guarantees. This initiative not only streamlined operations but also achieved a substantial reduction in capital requirements by over R500 million, showcasing his ability to marry technical expertise with practical business outcomes.

After making his mark at Old Mutual, Shen co-founded Lifecheq, applying his vision and skills to further challenge and innovate within the industry, shifting his focus toward personal finance, and impacting individual lives. His academic background, with a BSc in Maths and Computer Science and an Honours degree in Maths, underpins his technical proficiency and analytical approach.
